ibug Festival Für Urbane Kunst 2023

čežnja ~ longing

“August 10, 2023,

Last week, I had the pleasure of creating an installation at @ibug.art in an abandoned train factory on the outskirts of Leipzig in Germany. With me I brought a spool of tulle, some fishing line, precious conversations with friends, and a gently dissolving memory of home. I imagined a house floating, shedding its shell, all of its walls and roofs flying away in the wind and carrying with them the memories of those who lived within. Alongside, @klara_charlotte_zeitz offered brilliantly thoughtful poems and yes that is me singing! Upon seeing it for the first time, my fellow ibug artist @kori.nikola felt čežnja meaning longing in Serbian. I burst into tears with gratitude for this shared experience.
I learned - you cannot know yourself without a deep exploration of the forces that make you. Of the most intimate and true is the feeling of home.”

Made for the ibug Urbane Festival für Kunst at Leipzig’s former Train Factory, RAW Engelsdorf.

Come Closer - ibug 2019

Come Closer is an interactive installation housed in the bunker of a deserted Bahnbetriebswerk (train depot) in the small town of Reichenbach im Vogtland, Germany As viewers descend to the bunker of the abandoned complex, housed on an abandoned train depot, they are beckoned to ‘come closer’ towards a glowing tree. The louder they are, the brighter the tree grows, opening a dialogue between past and present.
